Gradient Noise (Exclusive Tutorial)

Gradient is one of Photoshop's basic elements. In its simplest version, it looks like a smooth transition from one color to the other. In other, more imaginative cases you can see a few transitions with several colors and different opacity levels. Here we'll devote our time to making some catching textures using gradient with noise.

So, you can create a new document 400x300px.

Select the gradient tool, and then go to Gradient Editor.

It doesn't matter what background, foreground and preset you've got set. Select Noise in Gradient Type. This will open additional options and will let you create an interesting gradient on the basis of the present one. Mark Add Transparency in options.

After that, move the RGB crawlers to the left, and then click the Randomize button a few times until you reach the desired effect (optional) . You can click OK now, cause your gradient is ready.

Now draw two gradients along the two diagonals of the canvas (in gradient options, you should select this gradient type: Linear, Mode: Normal ). You ' ll get this kind of texture in the end :

You can play a bit with the gradient's settings and with ways to apply them.

I want to show you one more example. Select the Diamond gradient in Options. Holding down the Shift button, and the mouse's left button, drag the mouse vertically and then let go. After that, do the same thing along either of the diagonals. You've got to have something similar to this in the end:
