Enhance the color of the sky and other light areas to increase contrast and saturation.
1. Open the image for editing.
2. Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J) and change the blending mode of the new layer to Difference.
3. On the new layer, apply a Shadow/Highlight filter (Filter> Adjustments> Shadow/Highlight) with the following properties:
Shadows: 0%
Highlights: 100%
4. Duplicate the Background layer (Ctrl+J) and add a layer mask (Layer> Add Layer Mask> Reveal All) on the new layer.
5. With the layer mask selected, use the Apply Image tool (Image> Apply Image) to apply the following properties:
Layer: Merged
Channel: RGB
Invert: Unchecked
Blending: Multiply
Opacity: 100%
6. Delete the top layer.
7. On the top layer, use the Brightness/Contrast tool (Image> Adjustments> Brightness/Contrast) to apply the following properties:
Brightness: -25
Contrast: +50
8. With the layer mask selected, apply an Auto Levels (Ctrl+Shift+L) then change the blending mode to Multiply.
9. Rollover the image in this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
