Some Very Early Information About ASP.NET 2.0
by John Peterson
I realize that most of you are too busy to bother trying to keep up with all the
news and rumors that circulate in the ASP and .NET communities... that's why
you come to us! The latest rumblings from the underground are about the next
version of ASP.NET which is being called ASP.NET 2.0 (code-named Whidbey).
From what I can tell it's very early so don't expect it anytime soon. From what I
hear, this is the version that is going to ship with the next version of
Visual Studio (aka. sometime next year).

You can start by listening to ASP.NET Program Manager Scott Guthrie
talk about the new features of ASP.NET 2.0 in this hour long
.NET Rocks! Interview.
If you don't have the time for that you can check out
Edgar Snchez's .NET Blog for
his quick summary of the interview.
You can keep up to date by watching the ASP.NET site and the
ASP.NET 2.0
thread in their forum.
Books
Alex Homer's got a preview book called
A First Look at ASP.NET v 2.0
coming out. For more info on the data side of things there's also
First Look at ADO.NET and System Xml v 2.0.
From what I can tell both should be out around October 24th.
There's supposed to be a listing of the table of contents and a
list of major features for both books here:
A First Look at ASP.NET v 2.0
First Look at ADO.NET and System Xml v 2.0
but I've been having some trouble getting the site to come in.
